The Shadow Hills Ward girls made flower headbands for our camp craft to set us apart from other wards. The girls had a lot of fun putting together their headbands. Follow the link here to read more, and see how/what we did!

Everyone Can Post!!

We have decided to let everyone have access to post on our leader blog. We're hoping that this will encourage more traffic and make it easier for you to share information with one another.I also haven't had time to keep on top it. This blog is meant to help you, if it's too much of a burden to participate in it, no worries :). This is for you guys!

Some items that should be addressed is to be careful about not posting anything that has sensitive or confidential information. It would also be great if you labeled your posts (at the bottom right of where you write whatever you are posting) so others can find it later to use as a resource.

If you are new to young women's or need a reminder, go to the first post on this blog to get refreshed on our vision for this blog.

Sister Stoker's Mentoring Experience

We are so inspired by Sister Stoker's experience, she gave us permission to share her story will all of you!!

PERSONAL PROGRESS MENTORING

A young woman, let’s call her Julie, was having a difficult time, and her mother asked if our YW leaders would join their family in a fast for her daughter.

While fasting for her, I was looking on line at some personal progress information in preparation for New Beginnings. As I sought inspiration to guide me for my portion of the program, I came across a section that said, “If the young woman has limited support at home to assist her in completing Personal Progress, another sister may be invited to serve as a mentor and help her, in counsel with priesthood leaders. This adult sister may approve value experiences and projects and sign the young woman’s Personal Progress book when they are completed.” Immediately the spirit whispered to me, “Kim needs a mentor!” Kim is a young woman who does not have a mother in the home. I wasn’t sure how to go about this. Should I talk to Kim’s father, should I just talk to Kim on Sunday, how should I handle this? Again, the spirit was very clear, “Text Kim right now!” I asked her if there was a sister in the ward that she would enjoy working with who could mentor and help with her personal progress. Soon I received a text back. She mentioned two names. One name I didn’t recognize, but the first name absolutely brought me to tears! It was “Sister Jones,” the ONLY woman who is not in YW, who had come to me several months earlier and asked for a Personal Progress book! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I contacted the Bishop to ask if he felt good about pairing up this good sister with Kim. With his approval, I contacted Sister Jones. I explained to her that I felt the Lord’s hand was involved, and that she had been the only woman in the ward who had asked me for a Personal Progress book. She was thrilled to be asked and was more than willing to help Kim.

This was such a powerful experience for me. I am thankful for the mother who was willing to include leaders in the fast for her daughter. In ward council, as our Bishop talks about our ward mission plan, he often tells us that if we are obedient to the council of our leaders, we will have baptisms. It may not be those exact names on our ward mission list, but there will be baptisms, and we have seen that come to pass. Through fasting and prayer for Julie, I was blessed to receive revelation on behalf of Kim. I know that He pricked Sister Jones’ heart months ago to have the desire to become involved with Personal Progress. I know that he had a plan and wanted Kim to have the help she needed to accomplish her Personal Progress goals. I know the Lord guided Kim to have Sister Jones’ name come to her mind when asked. The Lord loves these girls, and He loves us as leaders. I know He knows each of us by name and that these girls are so very important to him. This experience has strengthened my testimony so much that He is aware of each and every one of us individually. I am thankful for the love my Father in Heaven shows me and I know that He lives.

Caprock New Beginnings

On February 9th, Caprock held their New Beginnings Program. It was a beautiful program!! A few young women participated with their mothers in giving talks and the Boucher family sang a beauitful song together as a family. Sister Eisenbach also sang a beautiful number. It was an inspiring and uplifting evening. For refreshments they had fruit shortcakes, oreo truffles, lemon bars and cupcakes. It was delicious!!
